The sergeant's remarks came at a November 3, 2023 public meeting of Chicago's Community Commission on Public Safety and Accountability.

The commission, which began work in 2022, is the newest of a handful of city efforts to make CPD more accountable and responsive to Chicago's residents—and to streamline the department's operations.

The audio starts with an introduction by commission member Yvette Loizon.

In the premium version of the episode, Commissioner Loizon gives context for the sergeant's report, and tells why the public safety commission has probed this area of concern. The premium version also describes aspects of the district station that might complicate its maintenance.
